2011 Name: Jeff Elliot Kaner Date: April 28th, 1970 - November 1st, 2011 Obituary: Jeff Elliot Kaner Age 41 of Minneapolis, passed
away November 1, 2011. Jeff was born and grew up in Duluth. He graduated from
East High School and the University of MN with a degree in psychology. There
were three things that Jeff felt framed his life: Judaism, mental health
advocacy and politics, and he was very active in these communities. He was
very proud of creating the Supportive Torah class. He was also deeply
involved with the Mental Health Education Project and NAMI-MN, as well as a
long time volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and many other
organizations. He was a trainer and public speaker on mental health issues.
He loved to write poetry and enjoyed sports. Jeff is preceded in death by his
father, Bernard; grandparents, Rose (Azemov) and Hyman Kaner, and Jessie
(Wyner) and Sol Leader. Survived by mother, Sharon M. Kaner of Duluth;
sister, Ann Kaner-Roth (Marc Roth); nieces and nephew, Avia, Ari and Isa
Kaner-Roth. Funeral service FRIDAY, 10:00AM, SHIR TIKVAH, 5000 Girard Ave.
